Jersey Giant
Pros: Very friendly, calm birds.
Cons: Large size means they need larger accomodation.
Eggs:
Jersey Giants are, as the name suggests a very large breed - in fact they are the largest breed of chicken in the world. Cockerels weigh approximately 13lb and hens around 10lb.
The Jersey Giant is classed as a rare breed. The most common colourway is black but we keep them in Black, Blue and Splash.

As with many of the large breeds, Jersey Giants tend to be very placid and calm chickens. They were developed as dual purpose chickens- hens will lay aound 160 eggs a year and spare cockerels will make good table birds. They take a long time to mature to their full, adult size.
The size of Jersey Giants means that they require larger accomodation than many other breeds so this does need to be kept in mind but they make friendly and striking garden chchickens.
