Housing and Runs

Chicken Coop
Chickens should have a coop that is both dry and secure from predators. It is always advisable to get the best and largest coop you can afford as inferior quality wood does not last long and can make your chickens an easy meal for foxes

.

Pembrokeshire Poultry design and make an extensive range of quality poultry housing for your chickens.

Chicken Coop and RunIt is a good rule of thumb to allow at the very least 1 square foot per average sized chicken of indoor space and one metre square per chicken of outside space. The bigger area you can give your birds the better as disease and illnesses tend to spread much quicker in a confined space.

The size of your hens is an important consideration when choosing your housing. In a small garden a moveable ark can be a very good choice whereas in a larger space, runs or free ranging with a coop for night time use may be possible.Chalet Chicken Coop

All coops should be cleaned out regularly and checked for mites and other pests. Laying hens will need nest boxes- one for every four hens is a good rule of thumb.

Runs should be as large as possible to allow your hens lots of interest as well as space to move and engage in natural behaviour. We make a range of coops and runs to suit various breeds or to your own requirements.
